Le voyage de la vie

Jarrive à la conclusion de Walden

The universe is wider than our views of it.
[] we should oftener look over the tafferel* of our craft, like curious passengers, and not make the voyage like stupid sailors picking oakum*.

*Tafferel: The upper part of the flat portion of a ship's stern.

*Oakum: Loose fibre, obtained by untwisting and picking old rope; used in caulking ships' seams, in stopping up leaks, and sometimes in dressing wounds. The picking of it as an employment of convicts and inmates of workhouses, which was formerly common, has now fallen into disuse.

Le voyage de la vie est aussi un voyage tourné vers soi : un voyage au cours duquel on découvre notre potentiel.

"Direct your eye right inward, and you'll find
A thousand regions in your mind
Yet undiscovered. Travel them, and be
Expert in home-cosmography."

Ça me rappelle un poème que j'avais écrit:

Volti subito

Turn around; look behind.

What have you found within your mind?

(Je ne me rappelle plus du reste...)
