Mozart effect

I’m sure our children will always be surrounded by music. Good to know there may even be benefits beyond simple enjoyment…

[From today’s Globe and Mail:]

A NEW MOZART EFFECT: PREEMIE WEIGHT GAIN

Wolfgang, dear Wolfgang. Mozart, your genius knows no bounds. Not only did you bestow your celestial music on the world, but you also made us smarter for it (at least, according to adherents of the "Mozart effect"). And that's not all. Premature babies who listen to your oeuvre for a mere half hour a day gain weight faster than their music-deprived peers, the journal Pediatrics reports. Blissed out by your melodies, the wee ones pack it on by expending less energy, researchers say.
