Biutiful

I saw the movie "Biutiful" last night. The images of poverty stayed with me. While I was watching, I kept thinking about how lucky I am to live where I do, in a clean, new apartment, with hot water. When I said I feel rich, a few blog posts ago, I meant it. I felt even richer watching the film. The plight of immigrants hasn't affected me so vividly since I read Ulysse from Bagdad (in French).

Then, this quote from AWAD this morning, unfortunately too true:

The least pain in our little finger gives us more concern and uneasiness than the destruction of millions of our fellow-beings.
-William Hazlitt, essayist (1778-1830)
